Phil Vassar Golf Benefit Helps the Miller Home of Lynchburg

Forest, VA - The Phil Vassar & Friends Golf Classic was held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at London Downs Country Club in Forest, VA. The event had 164 participants and raised more than $16,000 for the Miller Home of Lynchburg. Evergreen Basement Systems organized a team of golfers and attended the event which included a round of golf, concert by Phil Vassar, and dinner.
The Miller Home is a home for non-delinquent girls ages 4-18, who are not able to live with their own families. Since 1875, the Miller Home has cared for over 900 young girls. The goal of the Home is to "provide care and guidance within a non-institutional, supportive environment which encourages each girl to grow and develop to her highest potential."
Lynchburg native and country star Phil Vassar headlined the event and even gave a casual concert for event attendees. He said, "More than anything, I just want [folks] to be aware that the Miller Home exists... we've raised awareness for this great place. These girls are growing up and getting to see them and be a part of their lives is really special."The Miller Home is a home for non-delinquent girls ages 4-18, who are not able to live with their own families. The Home's Executive Director, Stacy Garrett, remarked that this event, "It's a way for us to build awareness so people know what the Miller Home does and what we're able to do and continue our legacy in Lynchburg. But it also helps build our endowment by all the Phil Vassar events."
