Avoiding foreclosure in Virginia

In addition to an emergency foreclosure law that went into effect July,1 giving homeowners facing foreclosure some room to breathe with a 30-day extension to work on a payment plan, VA state government instituted a Foreclosure Prevention Task Force.

The goal is to help homeowners who are struggling to keep up with their mortgage payments to save and keep their homes. There is help out there and the Task Force is encouraging people to seek it.

The Task Force website offers tons of valuable information, such as tips on how to negotiate with lenders and a list of Certified Housing Counselors to help and walk them through the process.
