Crawlspace had some water on the floor this spring we noticed when having piping upgraded.It has since dissipated.The crawlspace ceiling is uninsulated and the floor has poly sheeting on it but it seems inadequate. I have a crawl space that has no vapor barrier and used to just have a piece of plywood covering the opening. I used to have mice every winter and one spring I had a black snake in my bathtub. A fellow who was doing some work for me fashioned a nice wooden cover for the entrance that fits quite snugly. Since then no mice or other visitors inside but now my house is very damp, especially in the summer. A dehumidifier has helped, but I haven't looked in the crawl space and feel sure there is moisture damage there. I would also be interested in insulating the floor - it is chilly in the winter. Thanks for your help.

Unfinished basement with a raised subfloor - we're getting long trails of water with heavy rain or snow melt. The house was built in 1955 and is structurally sound in every other way, and the water is minimal, but it would be better if it were gone entirely. We plan to put in drywall and tile or laminate flooring once the waterproofing is done - we'd also like recommendations for contractors to do that work.
